William (Bill) Bender P.Eng.

Bill Bender has been involved in engineering and manufacturing for over 20 years, with 15 of those years in various management positions. He has experience in engineering, quality and production of major appliances with both Westinghouse Canada and CAMCO where he provided leadership in the fields of program management, new product introduction, workforce re-organization, employee training and development, and all aspects of the production process.

Bill is a strong proponent of employee involvement and empowerment. At CAMCO, Bill Bender was instrumental in redesigning a large unionized organization into ‘focused factories". He also developed and obtained support from both the union and the government for a comprehensive training program aimed at skills enhancement in a team based environment. Bill successfully led negotiations for two major contracts and increased company flexibility through a massive reduction and simplification of job codes and labour grades. He also has hands on experience in developing and implementing Productivity Gainsharing programs.

Bill has been actively involved in the Canadian Standards Association and the Canadian Appliance Manufacturer’s Association where he has helped develop domestic and international safety, performance, and environmental standards. He has represented the industry on numerous occasions with all levels of governments during the development of regulatory requirements.
